The idea
The things I keep an eye on during a workday, like GitHub, CI, monitoring sensors, containers, errors and deployments, are spread across a lot of browser tabs. Plasma Widgets puts each of them in the panel as a row of small status badges, so a problem shows up without going to look for it.
What it does
- Eight KDE Plasma 6 widgets: GitHub Status, GitHub Account, PRTG, Docker, Bugsink, Sentry, Dokploy and Runner Status
- Status badges in the panel, with a popup listing the items behind them
- Act from the popup: start, stop or restart containers, resolve, mute or archive issues, deploy services
- Notifications when something newly breaks, such as a failed deployment, a crashed container or a runner going offline
- Square or rounded badges, adjustable colours and a choice of which states get a badge
- Not on KDE? The Status Badges tray app brings the same badges to Windows, macOS and other Linux desktops
Screenshots
Each widget's popup, with sample data (GitHub Status shows the live public feed). The badge row along the bottom is what sits in the panel.
Built with
- QML and JavaScript for the Plasma widgets
- Python for the cross-platform tray app
