About
I'm Jakob Pless, a full-stack developer in Vejle. By day I build digital products at FBG Medier. Made by Pless is where I build small tools for other developers, the kind I wish someone had already made.
I built my first websites for clients in 2009, and I've been building things with my hands for just as long. Halfway through, I swapped the keyboard for a cabinetmaker's apprenticeship running CNC machines, then came back to software as an instructor in a makerspace, teaching people to solder, 3D print and program their first Arduino. That path still shapes how I work: measure twice, keep the tool simple, and make sure the person using it understands what it does.
What I've worked on
- Full-stack Developer, FBG Medier (2025–now). I build digital solutions at FBG Medier in Herning, a trade media house with more than 100 years behind it. Its brands include Maskinbladet, Fritidsmarkedet, Maskinteknik and the Maskinbasen marketplace for machines, serving contractors, agriculture and food. I work across frontend and backend on the platforms its readers, customers and dealers use.
- IoT cloud platform, Green Energy (2022–2025). I started the company's IoT project, built its software department from scratch and later led development as senior developer and Product Owner: Rust microservices on Google Cloud, Next.js dashboards and Flutter apps for monitoring solar charge controllers.
- FabLab Spinderihallerne, Vejle (2020–2022). Instructor at the municipal makerspace, teaching programming, electronics, 3D CAD, 3D printing and laser cutting, and keeping the machines running.
- Web development (2009–2020). Websites for local businesses and organisations from 2009, frontend developer at Registration Denmark (2014–2015), and later WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify sites at Zetupweb and on my own as Made by Pless.
What I build here
Each tool solves one problem and tries to do it well. Headless Kit runs WordPress headless with Next.js and shadcn/ui, and this site is built on it. Code Mentor reviews your code and explains its reasoning, so you learn from the review instead of just applying it. Plasma Widgets puts GitHub, CI and monitoring status on your KDE panel.
